Misbehaving dragon removed from Fantasmic show at Disneyland

The giant animatronic dragon that features in Disneyland's Fantasmic show has been removed following a dramatic mid-performance collapse.
Performances of Fantasmic will continue without the 45-foot dragon, which was only added to the show last September after persistent technical problems delayed its debut. No timescale has been given for the dragon's return.
Disneyland Spokeswoman Betsy Sanchez is quoted in the Orange County Register as saying: "The dragon in Fantasmic experienced a technical issue last Saturday night (August 28). We are working to fix the problem. At this time we are not able to determine when the dragon will reappear in the show, however, it will continue to run at its scheduled times.”
The dragon was added to Fantasmic in order to upgrade the show ahead of the opening of the World of Color nighttime spectacular at neighboring Disney California Adventure. However, it missed its summer opening date and has continued to suffer issues with its "fire-breathing" special effects. The persistent issues have seen it dubbed "Murphy" by fans, in a reference to Murphy's Law (the adage which states "anything that can go wrong, will go wrong").
Photographs of the broken dragon can be found on the MiceChat forums here and here. A video of it in action ahead of its debut last year is embedded below:
