Rides go round twice during "Groundhog Days" at Chessington World of Adventures

Chessington World of Adventures is running a series of "Groundhog Days" throughout May, which will see all rides completing two cycles instead of the usual one.
The unusual events will run on weekdays only between May 5-28, 2010. All of the park's attractions are included in the promotion, with rollercoasters completing two circuits, flat rides cycling twice and even the park's sealion show running twice in succession.
Unsurprisingly, given the inevitable impact on throughput, weekends will see rides returning to a standard single cycle. Chessington has also reserved the right to switch attractions back to a single cycle during the Groundhog Days if an "extensive" queue develops.
Alongside the "double ride" promotion, Chessington is also offering a special 1-night, 2-day hotel plus ticket package with the neighbouring Holiday Inn Chessington. The "Roar and Snore" package includes 1-night bed and breakfast accommodation, plus a 2-day ticket and is available for £179 per couple or £199 for a family of 4.
The Groundhog Days concept is the latest inventive public relations stunt from Chessington's owners Merlin Entertainments Group. Other recent attention-grabbers have included the sale of edible insects in Chessington's new Wild Asia zone, and a search for "Britain's stinkiest urine" by nearby Thorpe Park.
