First opened at Universal Studios Florida in 1996, Terminator 2: 3D - Battle Across Time cost an eye-watering $24 million to produce (plus an additional $36 million for the venue). It was cloned at Universal Studios Japan in 2001, and features all of the major the stars of Terminator 2 reprising their roles.
After a pre-show that sets the scene, guests enter the theater area. There, they witness a combination of crystal-clear projections onto 3 wrap-around screens, animatronics, live actors, fog and wind effects and lasers.
The storyline picks up where Terminator 2 left off, with guests being treated to a demonstration of Cyberdyne Systems' latest robotic war machines. However, John and Sarah Connor quickly invade the theater, pursued by a T-1000 Terminator. As in the movies, a human-friendly 'bot played by Arnold Schwarzenegger comes to their rescue, with the plot spanning time and space before resulting in a spectacular conclusion.
