Volcano Bay to Reopen Later This Month

Though Universal’s Volcano Bay Water Park previously operated year round last year the park closed for November 2, 2020 due to anticipated lower demand during the winter months. However, though temperatures in Florida are in the 30s and 40s right now, Universal announced that this Volcano Bay will begin welcoming guests again in just a few weeks on Saturday, February 27. Right now it is unknown if Volcano Bay will be returning to a full everyday operating schedule, or opening on a limited day basis, like it did last fall before closing. You can check out Universal’s official calendar here for more updates on this as they become available.

Universal has confirmed that when it reopens enhanced health and safety procedures will still be in place at the park, including temperature screenings for guests and Team Members, limiting capacity at the park and on attractions – including rivers and pools, enforcing social distancing, aggressive cleaning and disinfection procedures, and requiring face coverings inside restaurants, retail locations and when entering and exiting the park.

Universal’s Volcano Bay will be one of the first water parks to reopen in 2021, as Walt Disney World has announced that Blizzard Beach won’t be reopening until a week later March 7, 2021. Right now there are no immediate plans to reopen Typhoon Lagoon. SeaWorld’s Aquatica has remained open through the winter months (closing only for temperature).

Tickets for Volcano Bay are on sale now for visits beginning February 27. Three-park annual and seasonal passes, as well as vacation packages, that include access to Volcano Bay will be available for purchase in the weeks ahead.
