Disney's "The Little Mermaid" is a beloved classic animated tale for many, and until recently, has never had much of a presence in the Disney parks. But, tucked away in a back section of Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park lies "The Voyage of the Little Mermaid". This quick retelling of the story of mermaid Ariel wanting to be human is done with a combination of live actors, animatronics, puppets, and a variety of other lighting techniques. The result is a very entertaining little show for most....but one that may be frightening for very small children.

For most, it's harmless fun as you watch the live actress playing Ariel interact with Sebastian and Flounder, singing the more well-known songs from the beloved film. But, the theater itself in which you sit is dark....and then, when Ursula the Sea Witch comes out, it won't take much to give your little ones some doozy nightmares from her.

But this is just a 17-minute show, and soon everyone will be happy again singing Little Mermaid tunes and enjoying the happy ending.

For me, personally, I've never been a real fan of that particular animated film, but this show surprised me a little. The puppetry, live action singing, and animatronics are pretty impressive.

I've gotta say....check it out.
