While a definite must because of being the first to break the 200 foot barrier, Magnum XL-200 is a rougher ride for a steel coaster.

This coaster has always had a special place in my heart due to its designer.

When growing up, I became a huge coaster enthusiast, and Roller Coaster Tycoon added fuel to that flame. I bought a VHS that was a documentary on several of the top coasters across the US, and Magnum XL-200 was one of those. On the documentary, they had Ron Toomer who is a legendary coaster designer in my book. Toomer worked with ArrowDynamics to make this ride and 95 others around the world.

The way Toomer talked about this ride, you could tell that he put a lot of thought and care into the design. The one moment he said he enjoyed most on this ride was the unique pretzel turn. Add a few tunnels, and you have a great roller coaster that will continue to thrill for years despite the rougher feel.
