This month at the Disneyland Resort, a special, one-night only farewell event is announced for the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, dates are set for the Main Street Electrical Parade to roll down Main Street USA at Disneyland once again, plus a limited-time upcharge is announced and changes are on the way for two attractions in Tomorrowland! It looks like December has been a busy month so far, so let's get things started right away with a new upcharge event that has proven to be a little bit controversial among some fans...
1. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror - 13th Hour farewell event announced for early next year
Though the process of converting The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror into Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission BREAKOUT is already well underway (with the attraction almost completely covered in tarps now), Disney has announced a special one-night farewell party for this attraction on Sunday, January 1, 2017, the day before the attraction is set to fade away into the Twilight Zone forever.
Guests who attend this special after-hours event will be encouraged to dress like they are from Hollywood’s Golden Age for an elegant party, and will be able to enjoy The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror in its original version for the duration of the event, an unlimited dessert buffet filled with attraction-inspired treats, plus entertainment provided by a debonair emcee and special photo locations. Signature non-alcoholic beverages and cocktails will be available for an additional cost, and a commemorative keepsake available only at this event will also be available for guests to purchase.
Event check-in for this special night will begin at 8:00 PM at the Disneyland Resort Esplanade, and guests will be able to enter Disney California Adventure Park for this event after the park closes to regular guests, beginning at 10:00 PM. Tickets are on sale now and cost $95 per person. Tax and gratuity are not included.
2. The Main Street Electrical Parade returns to Disneyland January 20th, special premiere event announced
Now that the Main Street Electrical Parade has rolled down the Magic Kingdom’s Main Street USA for the last time, this parade will be coming back home to the place it all started nearly 50 years ago for a limited time beginning January 20. This special celebratory run will take place nightly until June 18th, which just so happens to be the 45th anniversary of the parade’s first performance.
In celebration of the return of the iconic Main Street Electrical Parade, Disneyland will be hosting a special, after-hours event on January 19th that will allow fans of this parade the chance to be among the first to experience the return of this beloved parade.
For $95 per person, guests can attend the Main Street Electrical Parade Premiere event, which includes admission to Disneyland Park from 7:30 PM to midnight, and of course includes the first viewing of the parade at Disneyland in more than 20 years. Guests who attend this event will also receive a collectible event credential, a red carpet welcome, and access to most Disneyland park attractions before and after the parade.
Like the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Event, guests are being encouraged to dress in period-appropriate attire, which in this case, would be from the 1970s. Tickets to this event for Disneyland annual passholders are now on sale, and general admission tickets will be on sale next week.
