Carowinds which is located in Charlotte, North Carolina has moved to year-round operations this year with the park now open every weekend until the beginning of the official season in March when the park will also then open on a Thursday and Friday as well as the weekend.

We heard in 2022 that Carowinds will be opening a new area called Aeronautica Landing which will consist of five newly themed attractions and a renovation of an existing attraction, giving it six in total. Carowinds has just announced that Aeronautica Landing will officially open on Friday, April 7.

This is what we know so far... Aeronautica Landing is “a tribute to the Carolina’s spirit of invention, exploration, and aviation, where guests can immerse themselves in the history and future of flight.”

• It will include 5 newly themed attractions which are rumored to be; Air Racers (Zamperla Air Race), Air Walker (Zamperla Disk’O), Gear Spin (Zamperla NebulaZ),  Gyro Force (a Trabant style ride) and a Zamperla WindstarZ attraction which is rumored to have hang-glider themed vehicles and be a spin-arounds family friendly flat ride.
• The current Dodgem bumper cars are being re-themed and will be called Hover and Dodge. There will be 50 new cars featuring futuristic theming and four different color schemes. There will also be an updated sound and lighting system to revitalise the attraction.
• The area will have a new Italian restaurant called Hugo's Italian Kitchen which is set to feature a craft beer bar and patio and include indoor and outdoor seating. There will also have a new snack location and a revamped existing eatery. 
• Four new midway games will be brought to the area as well as a rethemed basketball game.

2023 marks Carowinds 50th year and this new Aeronautica Landing area should ensure that it celebrates in style. Carowinds released a number of images showing concept art which can be seen below.
