Dudley Do Right, Universal

UPDATE December 20 - Dudley's Do-Right Falls at Universal's Islands of Adventure has reopened having been closed since the beginning of October following damage from Hurricane Ian. The Universal Orlando Resort app has the attraction listed as opening at 9:00AM today.

This is certainly exciting news for Universal fans during the holiday season and a relief after rumors predicted that the attraction could be closed for up to 9 months! We will keep you posted on any further updates on this on our news and Facebook page.

December 19 - It looks like progress is being made on the refurbishment of Dudley's Do-Right Falls at Universal's Islands of Adventure which was damaged by Hurricane Ian. This popular water attraction hasn't reopened since the theme park closures due to the storm at beginning of October.

Bioreconstruct posted a couple of photos at the end of last week of water testing being carried out and the fence having been removed from one side of the bridge. There now only appears to be a small amount of scaffolding remaining.

With this current progress being made, we are hoping that the rumor that this attraction will be closed for up to 9 months seems less likely to be true. Universal hasn't given any exact idea when Dudley's Do-Right Falls will reopen but we will keep you posted on this on our news and Facebook page.

October 31 - Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls at Universal's Islands of Adventure has remained closed since the beginning of October when the park reopened after closures due to Hurricane Ian. In another update from Screamscape it seems to be the case that this attraction was ready for its winter refurbishment and as a result of damage sustained in the storm this brought the closure forward.

There are reports that Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls had been experiencing more frequent down time due to a technical issue prior to the storm, meaning the usual winter refurbishment was going to be longer than normal anyway. The damage which was then caused to the attraction by Hurricane Ian has meant that an ever longer period of extended closure is expected.

Universal has not officially commented as to how long this will be. Some theme park enthusiasts are saying online that they fear this is the end for Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls which we feel is an extreme view. But is appears to be clear that we aren't going to see the attraction reopening anytime in the near future.

Universal seems to be still surveying the extent of the damage and work which needs to be done. Predictions of at least 3 months of closure are being estimated with anything up to 9 months seen as a possibility. We will continue to keep you updated on news regarding Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls and when we will likely see a reopening date here at Theme Park Tourist.

October 27 - Last week we saw water flowing again at Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls at Universal's Islands of Adventure which we took to be a positive thing. However, according to online speculation and a rumor from Screamscape our hopes seem to be premature.

It appears that the damage Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls suffered due to Hurricane Ian was serious and we could see this attraction being closed for an extended period. Team Members who usually work on this water ride have been deployed to other areas. We still haven't had any official confirmation from Universal regarding the extent of the damage or when we are likely to see Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls up and running again. We will keep you posted as soon as we have further details.

October 20 - We are still waiting for news of when Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls at Universal's Islands of Adventure will reopen and there has been good news this week. The attraction has now been filled with water again which definitely shows things are moving in the right direction. Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls has not opened since the theme park closures at the end of September due to Hurricane Ian.

We will update you when we have further news on a reopening date for Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls at Universal's Islands of Adventure on our news and Facebook page. Hopefully we won't have too much longer to wait now water has been added to the attraction!

October 13 - We have been waiting to hear when Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls at Universal's Islands of Adventure will reopen but it now looks like from reports online that the attraction has been drained. Universal has not made a statement regarding the reason for the closure of Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls but we assume that it suffered damage from Hurricane Ian as it hasn't reopened since the theme park closures.

We currently don't have confirmation of a reopening date but we will update you on this as soon as it is announced here on Theme Park Tourist.

October 3 - The Universal Orlando Resort took a battering from Hurricane Ian but managed to reopen to resort guests and for Halloween Horror Nights on Friday September 30. Universal Studios Florida and Universal's Islands of Adventure then reopened to all guests on Saturday October 1. However, one popular attraction is unfortunately missing from the line up.

Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls is currently listed as closed on the official App. We are unsure of the exact reason for this closure but we assume it is down to damage suffered from Hurricane Ian. There had been no mention of scheduled maintenance or refurbishment prior to the theme park closures due to Hurricane Ian.

Universal has not given any official idea of when a reopening is likely, however, it has been rumored online that Team Members have told guests that the closure is due to unplanned maintenance and the attraction is likely to be unavailable for an extended amount of time. This certainly doesn't sound good but we hope to be able to bring you news of a reopening in the not to distant future.

Hurricane Ian also damaged the side of Jurassic Park River Adventure but surprisingly the attraction was running over the weekend and is scheduled to open at 9:00AM today. Part of The Incredible Hulk coaster was submerged in water but this is also scheduled to open at 9:00AM.

So, all in all, Universal Orlando Resort is back up and running pretty much as normal which is brilliant to see. We will update you on the reopening date of Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls as soon as it is announced.

Loved that ride. It's the best.

And it's nice that they're keeping Dudley's name alive. He was my hero. Always has been. Too many Snidely Whiplashes in the world!
