Universal cinematic celebration, Universal

It is important for guests visiting Universal Orlando Resort to know which rides and attractions are closed for refurbishment or for another reason to avoid disappointment. It can be difficult to keep up to date with the changing schedules so we are collating the current list of refurbishments planned for Universal Orlando Resort during August and beyond.

There was very positive news on August 30, when Revenge of the Mummy finally began its soft opening. We also heard that Universal has now removed Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida from the refurbishment calendar for the foreseeable future. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit was due to close for a brief refurbishment from August 21 - 25, 2022. There has been no further official plans of when this scheduled routine maintenance will now be done.

In this month's update we see a long-time shuttered attraction get another closure and a popular kids ride is set for a refurbishment in October. We are including dates where possible but these are subject to change. We will keep you informed of any changes on our news and Facebook page.

1. One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish (Universal's Islands of Adventure)

Status: Confirmed

Dates: October 24 - 26, 2022

Universal has confirmed on it's official calendar that the popular kids ride, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish will be closed for maintenance between October 24 -  26, 2022.  One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish takes the success of Dumbo The Flying Elephant, adds in squirting fish, and then introduces a song explaining how to avoid those squirts ("Red fish up, blue fish down," etc) and you've got an incredible family ride. Beware: some kids may disobey the song on purpose!

2. Dark Arts At Hogwarts Castle (Universal's Islands of Adventure)

Status: Confirmed

Dates: November 1, 2022 - TBA

It has now been confirmed on the official Universal Orlando website that Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle will return to Universal's Islands of Adventure on select nights between September 16 - October 31, 2022. We have no further idea whether this run will be extended into November and beyond so currently as of November 1, Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle will close again.

Located in Hogsmeade in Universal's Islands of Adventure, Dark Arts at Hogswarts Castle combines lights and music in an exciting spectacle where images of Death Eaters and Dementors alongside Lord Voldemort cloak the stone walls of Hogwarts Castle as darkness falls.

3. Parts of Marvel Super Hero Island (Universal's Islands of Adventure)

Status: Confirmed

Dates: Now - TBA

It appears that areas of Marvel Super Hero Island at Universal's Islands of Adventure are now closed for refurbishment. We are currently unsure how long this refurbishment will be. There have been rumors that Marvel Super Hero Island is set to have a retheme but this has not been officially confirmed or denied.

I’m glad that your still going to have the mummy ride their you’re just changing the name of it right. I also have something else to tell you in the Kid’s land make sure that you never get rid of the E.T. ride or the Woody Woodpecker ride because I was planning to come to Universal Orlando this month, but then changed plans to go to Walt Disney World instead and I’m really looking forward to getting the chance to ride these rides. There was the Madagascar ride at Universal Studios Singapore that just closed down and a was really looking forward to ride it, so I’m asking you please don’t ever in a million years change these rides.
