Splash mountain, Disney

UPDATE July 1 - We now have confirmation that the Princess and the Frog retheme of Splash Mountain is coming to both Walt Disney World and Disneyland in late 2024. The new name of Splash Mountain has been confirmed as "Tiana's Bayou Adventure”. This can be seen in the tweet by reporter Scott Gustin which is embedded below.

There hasn't been any confirmation as of yet as to when Splash Mountain will close at both the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Park in order for this extensive retheme to begin but we are guessing this will be sometime soon based on Disney's recent track record for construction.

We will keep you posted on further news as soon as it is announced. Let us know your thoughts on this new name for Splash Mountain by leaving us a comment below or on our Facebook page and by voting in our poll below.

June 3 - We heard way back in August 2020 that Disney planned to retheme the iconic Splash Mountain at both the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Park to the Princess and the Frog. There has been word from the voice of Princess Tiana, Anika Noni Rose that we are to expect the retheme to open in 2024.

After Anika Noni Rose made this comment on Live with Kelly and Ryan after Ryan asked “Are they making a ride?” to which she said “They are making a ride, it will be out in 2024.” Disney instantly made a statement but not to confirm this timeline but to let us know that we are to expect an announcement next month. This can be seen in the tweet below by reporter, Scott Gustin.

In the statement, Disney says "we look forward to sharing more details during the Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans in July" so it looks like we won't have to wait too much longer to discover when we are likely going to see this massive retheming being done to the iconic splash mountain.

The news of this retheme from the original "Song from the South" to the Princess and the Frog has caused huge controversy since it was announced and many have wondered whether it will actually take place as news has been very quiet on this project in recent months.

What we do know so far about the proposed retheme is that the ride's story will take place after the final kiss as Naveen and Louis join Tiana on her latest adventure, hosting a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration where everyone is welcome – during which some original music inspired by songs from the film will bring guests into the story. Tiana is leading the way and fans will be able to encounter old friends and make new ones along the way as well.

We are expecting Splash Mountain to close for a lengthy period at both the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland in order to undertake this huge transformation. We will update you with further details regarding this momentous retheme when they are announced.

Unoriginal/uninspired name for a completely unnecessary change to a fantastically great theme/ride. It makes me sad that the term "imagineer" seems to have lost it's meaning (if they even use it anymore). Maybe there are talented, creative people on staff, but they don't seem to be listened to.

They should keep splash mountin the way it is

Who cares?

Stop changing norms to accomodate your wokeness. I've cancelled our family reunion to Disney as well as all Disney products.

It's good but when you take away the old bring it back. For example part of that ride is from American sings. We need good clean fun more then ever. Remember most : DISNEYLAND IS MOSTLY FOR THE ONES WHO REMEMBER IT'S VALUE AND WHAT IT REPRESENTS.
Children are clueless they don't pay the fees, it's THE ADULTS that appreciate the adventures not rides.
