Space Mountain concept art, Disney

Oriental Land Co. Ltd announced yesterday through a press release that Space Mountain and its surrounding area in Tomorrowland at Tokyo Disneyland Park will undergo a major renovation.

Space Mountain is set to close in 2024 in order for the renovation to take place. The new attraction "will maintain its original concept as an indoor roller coaster, but will have enhanced performance and immersive special effects that will give guests even more thrills on this exciting rocket ride."

Space Mountain will be located within the new Tomorrowland plaza which is set to show the connection between the Earth and universe. There will be areas for guests to relax and from the concept art there appears to be water features. In the evening the area is said  "to draw guests into a spectacular world of light and soundscapes." The new Space Mountain building has smoother lines and looks more futuristic in design and color.

This complete development is proposed to cost about 56 billion JPY and is set to officially open in 2027. Do you think Space Mountain should be changed?
