Iron Gwazi, Busch Gardens

The towering coaster, Iron Gwazi has been sitting dormant since 2020 apart from when it has its weekly testing. Originally slated to open in 2020 but delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we finally have news of exactly when this very long awaited roller coaster will open at Busch Gardens Tampa.

It was officially announced on the Busch Gardens Tampa twitter account that Iron Gwazi will open on Friday March 11, 2022.

It also stated in the tweet that Pass holders and Fun Card holders will be among the first to ride. Current Pass holders and Fun Card holders are advised to check their emails to see if you have qualified for an early preview of Iron Gwazi.

When Iron Gwazi opens, this Rocky Mountain Construction gator-inspired attraction will be the world's fastest and steepest hybrid wooden/steel roller coaster, plunging riders from a 206 foot-tall peak into a 91-degree drop all while reaching top speeds of 76 miles per hour. Riders on Iron Gwazi will experience a dozen airtime moments, including three inversions.

The teaser advert is embedded below as well as the official POV which was released in August 2021. It certainly looks like guests are in for a thrilling ride when Iron Gwazi opens on March 11.
