Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is one of the most popular and iconic rollercoasters at Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. It was forced to close unexpectedly on December 28, 2021 due to a technical difficulty and didn't reopen until 9pm on December 31, 2021.

It then failed to open with the rest of the park for a fourth day running on January 1, 2022 but then did open around 10.30am. Wait times have been around 90-110 minutes.

After closing for five days at the beginning of 2021 due to a maintenance issue, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster seems to be becoming some what of a liability at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster originally opened on July 29, 1999 and launches riders from 0 - 60 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds on the fastest roller coaster at Walt Disney World and the first coaster there to go upside down (and three times, at that) as they scream along to Aerosmith on this compact indoor roller coaster.

Many Disney fans have questioned how much longer Rock 'n' Roller Coaster can remain in its current state without a major overhaul of some sort. Although an iconic and classic attraction, will Aerosmith continue to have the pull as we continue through the 2020s? Will the attraction become themed to a new IP? Will Rock 'n' Roller Coaster close permenantly and the indoor building house a completely new attraction?

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster closed permenantly at Walt Disney Studios Paris on September 1, 2019 due to a massive expansion of the park.

There have been no further details given about the technical difficulty suffered by the coaster in the last week but it does leave us wondering whether we will see further downtime for this aging attraction during 2022 and what Disney is going to do about it?
