Mickey's Toontown

Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland is being reimagined in a big way with a renewed focus on play areas for young children. According to statements made by Josh D'Amaro at the IAAPA convention, “The newly reimagined Mickey’s Toontown will be a welcoming place where families and younger guests can connect and play together in fun new ways.”

One of the new areas that will be a part of this reimagined area will be CenTOONial Park, which will be at the entrance of the new land and feature two interactive play experiences. Then as guests make their way through this space they will find an interactive fountain and a "dreaming tree" inspired by the tree a young Walt Disney would daydream under in his hometown.

The current attraction lineup at Mickey's Toontown is expected to stay in place, with guests still able to meet their favorite characters in their homes when it reopens. We'd imagine and ride Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin will also be a part of the new Toontown as well, though Disney hasn't specifically confirmed this just yet.

Construction on this reimagined land is set to kick off early next year, with the current Mickey's Toontown closing in March 2022, and then reopening in 2023 alongside Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
