It was announced today that Walt Disney World's Mickey's PhilharMagic will be closing for a month-long refurbishment kicking off on October 11, 2021, to install a new digital projection system. The attraction will then reopen on November 12, 2021 with both the upgraded projector and the brand new Coco scene announced earlier this year.
This new scene will feature an all-new score from film composer Germaine Franco as well as characters singing along to “Un Poco Loco” from the movie.
Disney recently released a behind-the-scenes video showing off the creative process that went into adding a new scene inspired by Coco to PhilharMagic. You can check out the video featuring Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald below.
When complete this project will mark the first time Disney and Pixar animators have collaborated on something where characters from both animation studios will be seen together on screen, potentially the way for more updates in the future. What would you like to see added to PhillharMagic if further updates are announced in years to come?
