Walt Disney World, Dad and little girl

I can imagine that a lot of people are getting totally fed up with what seems like a constant deluge of articles regarding mask wearing. I totally understand it, however, like it or not the mask or no mask controversy continues as decisions are made by both Disney and Universal regarding indoor mask wearing.

As of July 30, masks are now required in all indoor areas for all guests at Walt Disney World regardless of their vaccination status.

We assumed when this news was announced at the end of July that Universal Orlando Resort would quickly follow suit, however, it was confirmed that Universal Orlando Resort Will NOT Mandate Masks for Guests, instead simply "encouraging" guests to follow CDC guidelines and wear face coverings while indoors. Although, not mandated for guests, Universal Orlando Resort Team Members are now required to wear face coverings when working indoors.

The news that Disney has reinstated mandatory mask wearing for all guests regardless of their vaccination status may be seriously disappointing for some of those Disney fans who have trips planned to Walt Disney World for the Summer or Fall. Will more people now decide to head to Universal Orlando Resort or SeaWorld Orlando rather than Walt Disney World? Will some people actually be happy that Disney has made the decision to reinstate mandatory mask wearing indoors to help minimize the spread of COVID-19 at a time when cases are on the increase.

One interesting point to note here is Halloween Horror Nights which will swiftly be upon us. I am not quite sure how Universal are going to manage Halloween Horror Nights this year with everyone crammed into stuffy, unventilated scare mazes without masks? Will you be comfortable heading to Halloween Horror Nights this year? That is just one of the questions for you to think about when voting in our new poll...

Based on our last Big Debate results where only 34% agreed that mask wearing should be considered indoors at Walt Disney World I am guessing we could see a considerable number of votes going to Universal Orlando Resort in this poll.this is going to be a landslide win for Universal.

I am glad I booked a Universal vacation instead of Disney for the middle of September. Time will tell if Universal stands by their decision, but I'm happy with it for now and won't be adding a couple of days at Disney as I had been considering.
