In an effort to make the theme park entry process more "touchless" Walt Disney World has confirmed that they will be testing a facial recognition admission system at the entry to Magic Kingdom beginning today and initially lasting through April 23, 2021. Disney has said that the technology they are testing captures an image of a guest’s face and converts it into a unique number, which is then associated with the form of admission being used for park entry.

Disney has confirmed that participation in this test is voluntary, and there will be dedicated, marked lanes set aside for those who want to try out this new system. For those interested in checking it out, here's how to enroll:  

• When you’re ready to enter the park, simply enter the lane designated for the test program.
• Remove any hats, visors or sunglasses before you approach the facial recognition test zone, but keep your mask on
• Face the camera and position your valid park admission or MagicBand close to the scanner to activate the technology

After this initial scan, this technology will capture an image, which will be converted into a unique number that will be associated with your valid ticket media. Guests returning to the park during this test can then re-enter using the same facial recognition entry points. 

Right now this is only testing for 30 days at the Magic Kingdom, but if this technology is well-received by guests we'd guess Disney will expand it to other parks as well. How do you feel about this new technology rolling out at Disney Parks?
