Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic Disney confirmed today that it will not host its annual Super Bowl parade in Magic Kingdom this year and the game’s star player will not be a guest of the park. The news is unfortunate for football fans  but of course not surprising as Disney is not holding any other parades in the theme parks due to the current climate, and are looking to avoid any situation that could lead to big crowds of people standing in one area. 

Though the parade has been officially scrapped for this year,  Disney said it will still feature the Super Bowl star player in the iconic “I’m Going to Disney World!” commercial on Sunday night after the game, a tradition that has been in place since 1987's Super Bowl over 30 years ago. In a statement regarding the parade's cancellation, Disney said in part:

Disney Parks hopes to be able to bring back our other Super Bowl traditions next year, including letting football and Disney fans see and cheer on their favorite player in the park.

While fans may be disappointed in this development, it seems a near certainty that this annual tradition will return in 2022 when things are back to normal and theme park attendance is predicted to surge as the effects of the pandemic continue to subside.
