Star Wars Galaxy Edge Night, Disney

2021 began with the big announcement from Disney that it would be discontinuing Disney's Magical Express from 2022. The other perhaps somewhat surprising news is that Extra Magic Hours Will Not Return to Walt Disney World, with a New "Early Entry" Program Announced.

The Extra Magic Hours perk for those guests choosing to stay at a Walt Disney World onsite resort hasn't been available since the shutting of the theme parks back in March due to COVID-19.

For many guests, Extra Magic Hours which allowed early admission or late-night hours in the park post-closure was a massive draw to staying on property.

But wait, Disney aren't taking Extra Magic Hours away and replacing it with nothing. Disney have announced that Disney hotel guests will be able to enter any of the four theme parks 30 minutes early each day. This will allow Disney to spread out guests among the four main parks and give guests the flexibility to choose which park they would like to visit. Extra Magic Hours offered early entry to select park(s) so if you wanted to take advantage of this perk you were governed by which park(s) had Extra Magic Hours that day.

So, having said all that, for some guests this new "Early Entry" program may actually be a positive. The downside of this is that currently it doesn't look like there are any plans for any openings post park closure for guests to enjoy. We will keep you up to date with the latest news on this new "Early Entry" program when they are announced. For this week's Big Debate we ask, Extra Magic Hours Will Not Return to Walt Disney World, Does It REALLY Matter?
