Disney's Magic Kingdom, Castle

This week has seen the announement that Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort and More Get OK for Reopening With Stipulations, so things finally seem to be moving in the right direction regarding an opening for Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando and SeaWorld as well as other US theme parks. The plans need to be extremely detailed with rigorous safety measures for cast members/employees and guests. They must be submitted to the Governor as well as their local government officials and then agreed on and approved before the gates will open.

It is the question that is on every theme park fans lips, When Do YOU Think Walt Disney World Theme Parks Are Going To Reopen?, and Disney is still not in a position just yet to be able to give any official announcement to answer it. These are inevitably extremely worrying and difficult times for all Disney Cast Members and employees of theme parks across the globe and we are hoping that they will all be able to resume work as soon as possible and with the latest news it seems that there is, at last, hope in sight.

Over the last eight weeks we have voted on a number of different topics and recently in our mini series we looked at the potential measures that may be put in place for when the theme parks are finally able to open their gates. These included discussing what your views are on having to wear face masks and having temperature tests at the park entrances. Both of these measures are being rolled out when Disney Springs reopens May 20 with more details outlined in this official annoucement, Disney Springs Announces Mask and Temperature Requirements, Plus Phase 2 Opening May 27. As we said, Disney are surely going to be paying special attention to how guests are going to respond and adhere to these measures to inform their theme park reopening plans.

It is now clear that however the opening of Disney Springs pans out on May 20 that face masks will be required by all cast memebers and guests at all times (apart from when eating) and temperature tests will be done for everyone  before entering. This will, I am sure, cause joy for some and pain for others. Mask wearing at theme parks has particularly been a controversial issue when it has been discussed.

At the moment, based on the latest announcement, Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort and More Get OK for Reopening With Stipulations, capacity will be capped at 50% during Phase 1, rising to 75% in Phase 2. Right now we don't know what is involved in moving to Phase 2 but it gives an outline or road map of the plan that will have to be followed.

It is going to be very interesting to see what Disney is going to do to try and make opening at this level financially viable. We are guessing for sure that we are going to see price hikes? Will every park open at once or will they stagger opening? What else are we going to see? We will update you on this as soon as news breaks.

Unfortunately, over on the west coast with more stringent restrictions in place, an opening for Disneyland Resort doesn't look very likely in the near future with the three month lock down ahead just for starters. Polls 15 and 16 aimed to get the smiles back at this difficult time and asked which one of the parks can't you wait to get back to first? Votes have come swarming in and I will kick of by bringing you up to date with the latest results for these polls.

Poll 15 - Which Walt Disney World Park Can't You Wait To Get Back To The Most?

This poll has created a lot of interest and actually the results I find slightly surprising. I would have expected Disney's Magic Kingdom as the clear winner but that hasn't been the case. Here are the results as they currently stand:

  • Disney's Magic Kingdom - 24%
  • Epcot - 33%
  • Disney's Hollywood Studios - 18%
  • Disney's Animal Kingdom - 25%

So there it is, Epcot is the park that wins the prize for being the park that you can't wait to get back to the most. Disney's Magic Kingdom doesn't even come second, Disney's Animal Kingdom takes second place with 25%, closely followed by Disney's Magic Kingdom with 24%. Disney's Hollywood Studios has a respectable 18%, it was always going to be up against strong competition.

Poll 16 -  Which Disneyland Resort Park Can't You Wait To Get Back To The Most?

This was always going to have less people voting on it but I thought it was an important one to do, especially when readers asked why they couldn't vote on Disneyland.

We know that Disneyland unfortunately has longer to wait in order to be able to open it's gates due to the three month lockdown and stringent measures in place to try to contain the spread of COVID-19 in California. Nevertheless it will open at some point and when it does here are the results so far as to which park you are most looking forward to visiting:

  • Disneyland - 81%
  • Disney California Adventure - 19%
Disneyland, Main Street USA

I suppose that outcome was obvious and as one reader said "I am not picky" which I think indeed sums it up. As with Poll 15 don't worry if you haven't voted and would like to, just CLICK HERE and don't forget to share it with your friends and family.
