Electric umbrella

Though it may not initially seem like it, Disney parks have truly come into their own in recent years as a real food lover’s paradise. If you count yourself as one of the many who love eating their way around the Disney  parks and resorts, there are some big changes taking effect right now you should know about.

For this month's update, an iconic Epcot restaurant is just days away from closing, Disney Springs sees a brand new opening, plus a long-running project hits another delay!

1. Electric Umbrella expected to close very soon at Epcot

Though much of Epcot's Future World is already behind walls thanks to the central spine redesign, it looks like the Electric Umbrella will be closing in the very near future to make way for the new "World Discovery" area of the park. Though we don't have a firm closing date just yet, preparations are being made near the temporary MouseGear location for a temporary outside dining location that will use the former Taste Track kiosk and serve sandwiches, burgers, and fries.

2.Reagal Eagle Smokehouse to open in just a few days

Over on the other side of Epcot, the Regal Eagle Smokehouse quick service restaurant at the American Adventure pavilion is almost ready for prime time, and will be open before the end of the month. Disney surprised us back in January by announcing that this new dining location will have a Muppets tie-in, and will be themed to Sam the Eagle's Centennial Cook-Off: A Salute to All Cook-Offs but Mostly Barbecue, and though we're not sure how far the theme will extend to this mostly-outdoor dining venue, we're excited to check it out when it opens in the very near future!

3. CityWorks Eatery & Pour House now open at Disney Springs

City Works Eatery & Pour House officially opened its doors last week at Disney Springs. This new location is right next to the NBA Experience and serves over 90 local and global craft brews on tap and has eight wines on draft. Menu items at this location include Ahi Tuna Tacos, Short Rib, Smoked BBQ Ribs, and the Salmon Burger, as well as desserts like Peanut Butter Snickers Pie, S’mores Dip, Root Beer Floats, and more.
