A mixed bag: Getting to the park early
Though I was able to arrive early at Disney's Hollywood Studios early, and get an "evening" Boarding Pass, unfortunately, many guests did not know that they would need to be at the park long before opening to experience this attraction, and the boarding passes "sold out" just after 8:00 AM, moments after the park technically opened, which left many disappointed.
Of course this could have all been avoided if Disney communicated a little bit more with guests before the launch of this new ride, as the use of the Boarding Passes and virtual queue was a surprise to nearly everyone. And though we don't know how long Disney will be using this system to manage guests wanting to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, we'd tell anyone who wants to experience this attraction in the near future to plan to get to the park at LEAST one hour before opening, if not earlier. We were at the gates at 7:30 AM (a half hour before opening) and still had to wait 11 hours before our first attempt at getting on the ride.
Though a 13 hour wait is definitely LONG and the technical issues this ride is experiencing are a real bummer, we have to give Disney credit for managing this attraction launch about as well as could be hoped. With their smart use of the virtual queue and swift evac and reopen procedures, we'd call opening day for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance overall a success, even if it didn't go exactly perfectly.
