Disney confirms 2021 opening target
Though there are over a dozen new attractions set to open in the next year at Walt Disney World, it looks like guests who are excited for TRON Lightcycle / Run have a long wait ahead of them, as Disney has confirmed that this attraction will be open in 2021 "in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World".
So while it could open a little earlier, it seems like we're looking at a tentative fall 2021 opening date (Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary year will kick off in October), which seems sensible for such a massive project. Though all of the track has been installed, Disney still needs to build the massive structure that surrounds this ride and then of course install all of the show elements.
Outside the ride changes will need to be made as well, as a new elevated pathway connected to walkways in this part of Tomorrowland that lead into and under the attraction is being constructed to help with guest flow in and out of this area. In addition, an enclosed tunnel for the Walt Disney World railroad is also being constructed alongside this new attraction as well.
Though we'll have to wait almost two more years before TRON Lightcycle / Run is open at the Magic Kingdom, this new addition to the Magic Kingdom should help draw thrill seekers and sci-fi fans to this park and complete the soft transformation that Tomorrowland has been going through since 2017. However, while you're waiting, you can check out a ride through of the version in Shanghai (which is supposed to be virtually identical to the upcoming Magic Kingdom version) here, which showcases this attraction's zero to 60 miles per hour launch into 3,200 feet of track as guests speed across the digital world of Tron.

Ya think maybe an article titled "Disney Confirms Opening Date" might actually include, y'know, THE DATE?
