The "New" Disney's Hollywood Studios is still incomplete

Image: Disney

Though many saw the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge as a turning point for the park, the reimagination of Disney's Hollywood Studios is ongoing, with the following projects still in the works:

  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance This much-anticipated dark ride is set to open at Disney's Hollywood Studios before the end of the year, on December 5, 2019, just in time for the busy holiday season, and will finally "complete" Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. This attraction will be a more traditional dark ride experience, and will be using some amazing technology to bring the world of the First Order to life
  • Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway Though this attraction was originally supposed to open alongside Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge to help with capacity, it looks like there have been some delays with this project, with Disney pushing the debut of this ride back to Spring 2020. When this ride finally debuts, it will allow guests to literally step "through" a movie screen and join Mickey and his friends on a fun adventure where you’re the star of your own Mickey short and anything can happen. This zany out-of-control adventure will feature surprising twists and turns, dazzling visual effects and mind-boggling transformations that happen before your very eyes, including a forest instantly being transformed into a cityscape, which you can check out here
  • Mickey Shorts Theater Set to open in Spring 2020 alongside Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, this attraction will take over the former Sounds Dangerous theater and will show a number of Mickey shorts throughout the day.
  • Roundup Rodeo BBQ Though its been over a year since Toy Story Land debuted, Disney recently announced a small expansion for this land in the form of a new restaurant, which will be themed to resemble a new "rodeo" play area assembled with cardboard boxes cut and taped together. This new location will feature multiple dining rooms and plenty of familiar toy characters that have been brought together to create a fun, colorful mashup-atmosphere that only a child could create. This immersive restaurant will surround guests with a kaleidoscope of toys, games, and playsets that will certainly please fans of the long-running Toy Story franchise. This new dining location will be built in the front of Toy Story Land, near the giant Woody Toy Story Land entrance sign.
Though we're definitely sad to see the old Disney's Hollywood Studios entrance go, unfortunately with the new entrance in use and the reinvention of Disney's Hollywood Studios entering its final phases, it looks like it was unfortunately time for this piece of Disney history to go.
