4 Dining Changes at Walt Disney World ALL Guests Should Be Aware Of (December 2018)

Though it may not initially seem like it, Walt Disney World has truly come into its own in recent years as a real food lover’s paradise. If you count yourself as one of the many who love eating their way around the Walt Disney World parks and resorts, there are some big changes taking effect right now you should know about.

For December's dining update, we look at a new full-day bar that is now pouring at Disney's Hollywood Studios, guests can finally take advantage of a discounting dining deal at Disney's Animal Kingdom, plus a new character dining experience opens and a brand-new restaurant reduces its hours, despite just opening a few short weeks ago!

1. Sunshine Day Cafe turns into an all-day bar, now open year-round

The Sunshine Day Cafe on Sunset Boulevard at Disney's Hollywood Studios has always been a seasonal eatery, but beginning this week this familiar location will be turned into an all-day bar, serving only drinks (currently only alcoholic) all day long, every single day. Special holiday-themed Flurry of Fun beverages are now being served at this newly re-purposed location until January 7 ( including a tropical Christmas on the Beach drink, Holiday Mule, and festive Gum Drop). After the holiday season, this location will remain open with new seasonal beverages being added to the menu and rotated all year round!

2. Disney's Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler now available for booking until January 2

Last week Disney announced the Disney's Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler, which is a special limited-time promotion that will be available from December 22 through January 2 that allows guests to try food and beverages around the park, while also reserving a seat for Rivers of Light as well and even getting some money back, a virtually unheard of experience at Walt Disney World. Here's how it works:

Guests can book the Disney's Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler experience online here, for $30 per guest. Once the experience is paid for, guests will then be emailed a special $35 digital value card that can be used to purchase select tasting-sized food and drinks at over 40 kiosks and carts throughout the park. At the end of the day's self-guided food tour, guests can then show their proof of purchase of this package to gain access to the special VIP reserved seating area for that evening's second showing of Rivers of Light.

This is only being offered during the holiday season, and though this is definitely a great deal, we're not expecting it to be offered past the January 2 end date, as Disney won't need to use food deals to encourage guests to eat at Disney's Animal Kingdom after this date.
