The 9 Walt Disney World Attractions We Lost Forever in 2018

7. Rafiki's Planet Watch

Conservation Station

Location: Disney's Animal Kingdom

Last Day of Operation: October 20

After rumors surfaced about Rafiki's Planet Watch switching to seasonal operation earlier this month it was revealed this attraction would actually close forever on October 20th. Unfortunately, this means the Wildlife Express train will not run after this time and the entire conservation station (including the Affection Section petting zoo) will be shut down.

Interestingly, the veterinary facilities here continue to operate, as they are necessary for the care of the animals at the park, but everything else is now closed. Some inside sources have said that this attraction could return in a different form next year, but at this point it is unclear what form that might be.

8. Move It! Shake It! Dance and Play It!

Location: Magic Kingdom

Last Day of Operation:  December 1

The daily Move It! Shake It! Dance and Play It! parade will also be closing later this year on December 1, 2018, nut will be quickly replaced by the similarly-titled Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party. In this "new" parade, Mickey and Minnie Mouse will invite guests to dance with their pals in front of Cinderella Castle with live singers belting out new arrangements of classic “Mickey Mouse Club” songs. This updated parade will debut in the Magic Kingdom on January 18, 2019.

9. Mickey's Backyard BBQ

Location: Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground

Last Day of Operation: December 31, 2018

Mickey’s Backyard BBQ at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is a fan favorite dining establishment outside the hustle and bustle of the theme parks that features all-you-can eat BBQ (plus other delicious items like Jambalaya, Honey-mustard baked chicken, and Strawberry shortcake), as well as live music and line dancing.

However, though this is definitely a popular dining location, it looks like guests will only have a limited amount of time left to experience Mickey's Backyard BBQ, as this dining establishment is expected to close on the last day of the year to make way for Disney's newest hotel project which will be built overtop the ruins of River Country
