Upcharge events are definitely the new normal at Walt Disney World, and though this month has already brought some interesting updates for guests looking to add a little something "extra" to their next trip to the resort, three additional new experiences were announced this week, including one that is completely free!
1. Free Food & Wine Tailgate Tasting event coming to Epcot next week
Running on select Mondays throughout the festival, The Food & Wine Tailgate Testing event is sponsored by ESPN Monday Night Football, and is a 45-minute program that will feature tailgating-inspired food and beverages. Guests who attend this complimentary event can enjoy a flight of three sample size food items inspired by the cities playing in the game each week along with three different beverages, while learning from culinary experts about how to prepare these dishes.
This new event will be offered on September 17, 24 and October 1, 8 and 15 from 4:30-5:15 p.m. in the Festival Center. Guests interested in attending will need to arrive at the park as early as possible to pick up a wristband at the Festival Center starting at 9:00 AM. each Monday for that day’s seminar. All guests must be present to receive their wristbands, which will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
The addition of this new, free event a few days ago was certainly a surprise, but we'd guess that The Food & Wine Tailgate Testing event will be VERY popular, so guests wanting to take part will definitely need to sprint to the Festival Center at park opening to ensure they have a spot at this complimentary event.
2. Rose & Crown Tea Experience Coming to Epcot this Month
Also beginning later this month, guests visiting Epcot will be able to book a special Rose & Crown Tea Experience where they can sip on Twinings tea along with scones and sandwiches. During this special tea, guests will also get the chance to learn tea brewing tips and tricks to help them recreate their perfect cuppa at home.
This upcharge experience will be offered at 9:45 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in the United Kingdom Pavilion at Epcot beginning on September 28th. The cost is $30 per person, making this one of the lowest-cost upcharge experiences we've seen in awhile. Guests can make advanced reservations by calling (407) WDW-DINE, as online bookings are not yet available. Dates are available through the fall season, and if this offering proves to be popular, it will probably return after the holiday season.
