This week at Walt Disney World, two longrunning refurbishments come to an end, a closure hits Disney Springs, plus Disney hikes the price for a popular upcharge experience!
Programming note: Though we normally devote some time to Orlando-area parks outside Lake Buena Vista, there has been so much going on at Walt Disney World over the past seven days that we decided to forgo the “beyond” this week. You’ll hear about all the news from Universal Orlando Resort, Busch Gardens Tampa and SeaWorld Orlando in next week’s update!
1. Design-a-Tee closing forever this week
Over ten years ago Hanes entered into a sponsorship deal with Walt Disney World that saw opening of the Design-a-Tee retail location in 2008 at then-Downtown Disney. However, now that Hanes has decided not to renew their contract with Walt Disney World, this location will be closing forever on September 9, 2018.
2. Vampirina comes to Walt Disney World
New Disney Junior character Vampirina will be making her Walt Disney World debut at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom on September 9, and will be interacting with guests on party nights at the Storybook Circus Disney Junior Jam.
Later this month, this character will also be appearing at the Disney Junior Play 'n' Dine breakfast at Hollywood and Vine, and will also be appearing for meet and greets in the Animation Courtyard.
3. Kringla Bakeri og Kafe reopens after lengthy refurbishment
Fan favorite Epcot snack stop Kringla Bakeri og Kafe closed back in February for a very long refurbishment during which time the inside ordering area was expanded and some kitchen upgrades were made. However, though it has been a lengthy wait, this dining location is finally open again, and guests can stop by this popular eatery for some School Bread once more!
