Disney parks are constantly changing their refurbishment schedules, making it difficult for guests to keep up with the operating times and latest news regarding their favorite attractions, resorts, shops, and restaurants. Here are a few big, upcoming changes that are either confirmed by their respective parks or at the least very strongly rumored for the very near future.

This month's refurbishment update includes information on a long-running Magic Kingdom refurbishment (that could be coming to an end soon!), as well as two refurbishments happening now at Disney's Hollywood Studios and even some refurbishments happening outside the theme parks!

1. Liberty Square Riverboat (Magic Kingdom)

Status: Confirmed

Dates: Now - Fall 2018

Though it has been closed since January 8th, and was supposed to reopen over the summer, the Liberty Square Riverboat at the Magic Kingdom remains under refurbishment, with no specific reopening date in sight. Though the Liberty Square Riverboat closes every year for several weeks for regular maintenance, major work was being done on the riverboat's boiler during the earlier part of the year, and now Disney has begun the process of replacing the track that this attraction runs on, which has resulted in a more than 9-month closure for this ride.

As a result of the new track being installed, much of the Rivers of America has been drained, and guests who visit the Magic Kingdom can actually see the new steel sections in the river being installed. Disney has not announced when this project will be finished, but they are still projecting a fall 2018 reopening for the Liberty Square Riverboat, so hopefully guests this holiday season will be able to enjoy this classic attraction once more after almost a yearlong closure

2. Tattoine Traders (Disney's Hollywood Studios)

Status: Confirmed

Dates: Now - Fall 2018

Beginning in early September the Star Wars gift shop at the exit of Star Tours will be receiving some enhancements as part of a partial refurbishment. The store will stay open during this refurbishment, but the Droid factory and Amazing Pictures areas will removed as this overall space is redesigned. A grand reopening should take place later this fall for this reimagined gift shop.
