Though Disney is great at releasing information about upcoming projects early (even if they quietly cancel them later), Universal Orlando Resort has historically taken the opposite approach, announcing new rides and attractions long after construction has begun. And though Walt Disney World has more than a dozen projects currently in the works, Universal has a lot going on too....they're just keeping details under wraps for now. Here are all the "secret" projects Universal currently has in development:
1. Untitled live action experience
Status: Confirmed
Opening in: 2019
Terminator 2: 3D quietly closed forever last year and Universal announced when this attraction shuttered that the theater would not stay empty for long as an all-new live action experience based on a high-energy Universal franchise that’s set to open in 2019. However, in the year since the original attraction's closure, we have heard no official news or even a rumor about what could be coming to this theater, which is very curious as this attraction is set to debut sometime next year!
2. New Wizarding World dark ride in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmeade

Status: Confirmed
Opening in: 2020 (rumored)
Last year the Dragon Challenge roller coaster closed forever, and Universal confirmed that replacing this attraction would be an unnamed Wizarding World dark ride that “will take [guests] deeper into J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, where you will encounter some of your favorite characters and creatures”. And while construction is well underway on this new attraction, we still have no confirmation from Universal about what kind of ride it will be or what it will be based on.
Right now the most popular theory about this attraction is that it will be a ride based on the Fantastic Beasts film series. Even though the Fantastic Beasts films are set half a century before the Harry Potter films, we’re sure that there could be some magical time travelling explanation that could keep the immersion of the larger Wizarding World of Harry Potter in tact.

Of course, Universal has not set an opening date for this new attraction, but its worth remembering that the first Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2020 which would, perhaps not coincidentally, be a perfect time to open a new attraction!
