3 Rumors About the Future of Disney Parks We Can't Ignore

2. Walt Disney World Railroad to get a new route through Tomorrowland

It was announced earlier this summer that the Walt Disney World Railroad would be closing for an undetermined amount of time to accomodate work in Tomorrowland due to the Tron roller coaster being built in this location. And while Disney hasn't confirmed anything beyond the closure of this attraction, rumors indicate that during the next year or two while this attraction in not operational, work will be done to alter the track of this attraction, as concept art released last year (see above and try to spot the train!) seems to indicate that the track will be different when the Tron roller coaster opens in 2021. Whether this is just a simple re-route or something more will again, remain to be seen, but this could be a good opportunity for Disney to refresh this classic attraction a little bit.

3. IllumiNations rumored to be ending soon

Rumors about a new nighttime show for Epcot have been swirling since 2015, and with Disney opening Rivers of Light at Disney's Animal Kingdom,  Happily Ever After at the Magic Kingdom, and Disney Movie Magic at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the timing seems right for Epcot to get a new, refreshed nighttime show, especially as IllumiNations has been operating without a sponsor for several months now.

And though nothing has been confirmed yet, last month Walt Disney World's Reedy Creek Improvement District approved a new construction project that will bring extensive electrical upgrades to Epcot's World Showcase Lagoon, which are reportedly being done to lay the groundwork for the long-rumored successor to the Illuminations: Reflections of Earth nighttime spectacular.

Construction work has yet to begin in earnest, but we're likely looking at a kickoff date sometime before the end of the year, and an announcement sometime in 2019, potentially with a premiere next year as well. While we don't know what kind of show could possibly replace IllumiNations (though we have some ideas), it seems clearer than ever that the writing is on the wall for this show. However, since Disney has yet to confirm anything, this is, of course, all just speculation at this point, but we can't imagine IllumiNations will go on for much longer, meaning fans of this show should definitely make plans to see it as soon as possible.

There are defintiely a lot of interesting rumors going around. Which ones fo you think are true?
