Earlier this year Disney announced that Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios would debut in the middle of summer on June 30th. And though fan anticipation for this new land hasn't exactly been on par with that of Avatar - The World of Pandora or the upcoming Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, Disney is actually expecting some pretty huge things from this new land, which is why they are making the following changes in preparation for this opening in just over two weeks:
1. No scheduled soft openings are expected to happen, but Cast Member previews are ongoing
Though Disney has scheduled soft openings for new lands like Pandora - The World of Avatar and New Fantasyland in the past, unfortunately, it looks like no such scheduled previews are set to happen for this new land, as the finishing touches are still being put on some of the details in this new land. However, though the public won't be able to walk into this new land until opening day, Cast Member previews of this new land's signature attraction, Slinky Dog Dash, are currently ongoing.
2. Annual passholders and DVC Members will have this land to themselves...after it opens
Now that the bad news about soft openings is out of the way, Walt Disney World annual passholders as well as DVC members will still have the chance this fall to gain exclusive access to Toy Story Land, albeit after it opens. This September Annual Passholders and DVC Members will be able to register for a specific time where they will have exclusive access to the three attractions in Toy Story Land as well as the Woody’s Lunch Box quick service snack stop. Registration for this event will open in the coming weeks, and eligible Passholders may register themselves and a single guest (who will, of course, need park admission if they are not an annual passholder themselves).
3. All of Toy Story Land will be tier 1 FastPass+
Though we kind of assumed that Slinky Dog Dash would be a tier 1 attraction and Toy Story Mania would keep its spot at the top, we were surprised to learn several weeks ago that all three Toy Story Land attractions (including the Alien Swirling Saucers flat ride) have been made Tier 1, with former top-tier attractions like Fantasmic!, the Tower of Terror, and the Rock 'n' roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith all knocked down to Tier 2.
