Walt Disney World has made some controversial decisions in regards to its annual passholder program in recent years. From massive price hikes to the discontinuation of popular dining discounts, it seems like there has been a lot of unfortunate news recently for some of Walt Disney World's most loyal guests.
However, over the past few days Disney has announced some very interesting new perks for annual passholders that you may want to know about, including a special passholder-only Toy Story Land event and some interesting news regarding blockout dates...
1. Annual Passholders get exclusive access to Toy Story Land this fall
Though we have been wondering if Disney would be having annual passholder previews for Toy Story Land before this land's official opening later this month, so far there have been no developments on this front, and the rumor mill has speculated that Disney is still rushing to get all the details ready for this land's debut on June 30th, which is why no soft openings have happened yet.
However, now that the bad news is out of the way, Walt Disney World annual passholders will still have the chance this fall to gain exclusive access to Toy Story Land, albeit after it opens. This September annual passholders will be able to register for a specific time where they will have exclusive access to the three attractions in Toy Story Land as well as the Woody’s Lunch Box quick service snack stop. Registration for this event will open in the coming weeks, and eligible Passholders may register themselves and a single guest (who will, of course, need park admission if they are not an annual passholder themselves).
While it is still theorietically possible for Disney to hold a soft opening or two for Toy Story Land ahead of its opening, this fall event seems like a soft confirmation that right now there are no plans to have pre-opening events for annual passholders this month.
2. Block out dates lifted for specific passholders for the month of June
Though higher tiers of annual pass have access to Walt Disney World's theme parks during the busy summer months, any passholder tier below gold is typically blocked out during this time period. However, Disney announced earlier this week that both Silver and Weekday Select Passholders have had their block out dates lifted for all four Theme Parks from today through June 29th, which is certainly an unexpected surprise, and may help get some guests back to the parks who wouldn't have normally had the opportunity!
