Earlier this week it was announced that Disney’s Animal Kingdom would be extending its Extra Magic Hours availability, offering this perk almost every day beginning later this week on April 29 and running through to June 30th, from 8am to 9am. However, though this is supposed to take effect this weekend, there may have been a bit of a snag in recent days, as guests who have visited this park may already know.
Pandora – The World of Avatar is having some technical issues that are causing partial and full closures
Though the majority of guests who visit Pandora – The World of Avatar already know this land is home to two attractions, what they may not realize that both Avatar - Flight of Passage as well as Na'Vi River Journey are actually both housed in the same, massive show building. And while this is great from a space-saving perspective, unfortunately that means when something goes wrong with one attraction, Disney has to shut both down.
And unfortunately, that’s just what happened earlier this week on April 24th and 25th, as a technical issue (reportedly with the fire safety system) caused both Avatar- Flight of Passage as well as Na’Vi River Journey to be closed for half of the day on the 24th and for the full day on the 25th.
Fortunately, Disney was able to get half of the theater for Flight of Passage in operating condition by April 26th, but the Na’Vi River Journey unfortunately remained closed through April 26th while Disney continued to work on the issues are causing these attractions to malfunction
Right now we don’t know how long these problems will last, but hopefully Disney will have things up and running again by the weekend, which is when the daily Extra Magic Hours are supposed to kick off. However, if for some reason the trouble continues, we might just see this park of the park remain closed during Extra Magic Hours, with perhaps just Dinosaur, Expedition Everest, and TriceraTop Spin and potentially Kilimanjaro Safaris operating if Pandora- The World of Avatar is still experiencing technical difficulties.
