One of the biggest perks of staying on property at Walt Disney World is the Extra Magic Hours program, which allows hotel guests staying at a Disney resort (or selected partner hotel) to exclusively experience attractions at a specific park during a one or two-hour window of time reserved only for on-property guests either before the park opens or after it closes.

Though this system has been in use for several years, it has gone through a number of revisions over the years, with 2013 bringing the most significant change in recent years when the number of evening extra magic hours was reduced from three to two, and then in 2017, when Disney began doing seasonal every-day Extra Magic Hours at Disney's Animal Kingdom to help deal with the rush of crowds at this park during Pandora - The World of Avatar's inaugural year.

And now it seems some additional changes are coming to this program this summer, that should be very good news for guests staying on (and in some cases, off) property!

Almost-daily Extra Magic Hours start up again at Disney's Animal Kingdom this week

Last summer's daily Extra Magic Hours at Disney's Animal Kingdom were quite the hit and it looks like Disney is ready to start this program back up again even before summer officially kicks off with morning Extra Magic Hours now set to be available almost every day beginning later this week on April 29 and running through to June 30th, from 8am to 9am before park opening. The only real difference here is that Disney will not be limiting these Extra Magic Hours to just Pandora like they did last year (though we'd guess that's where most guests will go first thing).

Though no announcement has been made about this program after June 30th, last year's Extra Magic Hours expansion was so popular it was extended into the fall and that may end up happening again, as record crowds are projected to be coming through Walt Disney World this year. However, something else happens on June 30th that could hinder a possible extension...

More Extra Magic Hours added to Disney's Hollywood Studios for the summer

In addition to the increased hours at Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disney has also announced that on Toy Story Land's opening day Disney's Hollywood Studios will be open for an extended period from 8AM to 11PM. Following that, the park will be open every day from 8AM to 10PM and will also offer daily morning Extra Magic Hours from 7AM to 8AM. Evening Extra Magic Hours from 10PM to 12AM will also be offered at this park on Fridays only. This will hopefully give all resort guests the chance to check out this new land and both the Alien Swirling Saucers and Slinky Dog Dash attractions, which will probably be jam-packed with guests during the day.
