This week at Walt Disney World, closings and cuts hit Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney'a Animal Kingdom plus a new PhotoPass product is now available to purchase from My Disney Experience and a new FastPass+ restriction is introduced.

Outside Walt Disney World, Universal's massive expansion plan moves forward and soft openings begin for the newest ride at Universal Studios Florida!

1. A trio of characters set to leave Disney's Animal Kingdom

In order to accommodate some new character offerings set to debut in just a few weeks, Disney's Animal Kingdom is making some cuts to its character lineup. First up is Baloo and King Louie from The Jungle Book, who currently meet guests in Asia near the back of the park. Unfortunately, it looks like both of these characters will be leaving this week, and will have their final day at Disney's Animal Kingdom for the foreseeable future on April 14th.

And unfortunately it looks like this Jungle Book duo aren't the only ones on the chopping block, as Flik from A Bug’s Life, who currently meets guests in the Discovery Island area of the park will be leaving shortly afterward, and will have his final day of character meet and greets on April 22nd.

2. Sweet Spells closing this week at Disney's Hollywood Studios

It's the end of an era on Sunset Boulevard, as the Sweet Spells snack location at Disney's Hollywood Studios closed forever on April 15th. The space occupied by this bakery and treat shop will be converted into additional retail space, reportedly themed to Toy Story in anticipation of Toy Story Land opening later this year. Many of the baked goods sold at this location are already available at the Trolley Car Cafe location, hopefully including the iconic Carrot Cake Cookie.
