Most Walt Disney World visitors know that there is far more to this vacation destination than just theme parks. Walt Disney World hotels offer world class dining locations, plenty of fun activities and some expert theming that will delight those who venture beyond the theme parks, whether or not they are actually staying at the resorts or not!
This month brings a number of updates to the various hotels around Walt Disney World, including a new class at Port Orleans - French Quarter, a fancy one-night only event at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, plus a new perk for DVC Members at Disney's Old Key West Resort. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World hotel in the near future, here are all of the essential updates from the past few weeks:
1. Painting class now offered weekly at Port Orleans - French Quarter
Though Disney has sporadically offered this add-on in the past, Disney has announced that the Painting On De Bayou instructor-led paint class at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter will now be held every Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Scat Cat’s Club. Guests who participate in this fun activity will be able to create and take home their own masterpiece, like the image above, which was the featured design for this past month. The cost of the class is $35 per person and is for guests ages 12 and up. Registration is required and is limited to 16 guests per week. For more information and to reserve a spot in the class, guests can call (321) 347-0750. Note: you do not need to be staying at this resort to take part in this activity, and guests who drive to Port Orleans - French Quarter only to participate in this activity will not need to pay a parking fee.
2. New wine tasting experience to be offered for Disney Vacation Club Members at Disney's Old Key West Resort
Beginning on April 15th, DVC Members will have the option to participate in a weekly wine-tasting experience that will be offered as part of DVC Membership Magic. This new experience will be limited to 20 guests (21 or older) each Sunday (excluding holidays), and will be held from 3-4 p.m. at Olivia’s Cafe. During the event guests will hear more about the restaurant's namesake, Olivia Farnsworth, and enjoy a sampling of wines accompanied by bite-sized appetizers. Cost is $30 a person, including tax and gratuity.
