Though the main draw at Walt Disney World is of course its world-class attraction, plenty of guests find shopping at the resort just as exhilarating (perhaps even more so!) as taking a spin on Space Mountain. However, if you're planning on visiting one of the many, many retail stores across the resort in the coming weeks, there are a few things you might want to know first...
1. Annual Passholders to get exclusive pre-opening shopping time this week at Disney's Animal Kingdom
After the smashing success of the passholder-exclusive shopping experience at Disney Springs, a follow-up event has been announced. Taking place later this week on March 21,Walt Disney World annual passholders can be among the first to shop from a new collection of limited-edition merchandise created to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Disney’s Animal Kingdom park.
This shopping window will be from 7:00 to 8:00 AM, before the park opens to the general public, and will take place at Island Mercantile. Unlike the last event, registration is not required for the event, and guests who want to attend can simply bring their valid Annual Pass card and photo ID to Disney’s Animal Kingdom park and enter through the Passholder-dedicated turnstile between 7:00 and 8:00 AM on the event day. Annual Passholders will also be able to use their 20% off discount during this event as well.
This new event sounds a lot more lucrative for annual passholders, as it looks like it will be unlimited, and will get guests in the park before regular guests, which could be very important to annual passholders looking to get a leg up on the crowds this spring break. Though purchasing something to get a touring advantage might sound a little crazy, when you're looking at 4+ hour waits for Flight of Passage, even annual passholders who otherwise might not have wanted to purchase 20th anniversary merchandise might want to pick up a pin or t-shirt so they can get in the park before everyone else and be the first to be able to get in line at their favorite attraction.
