Programming note: Though we normally devote some time to Orlando-area parks outside Lake Buena Vista, there has been so much going on at Walt Disney World over the past seven days that we decided to forgo the “beyond” this week. You’ll hear about all the news from Universal Orlando Resort, Busch Gardens Tampa and SeaWorld Orlando in next week’s update!
1. June 30 opening date announced for Toy Story Land
Disney surprised fans this week by announcing that they will be waiting until mid-summer to officially open Toy Story Land, naming June 30th as the grand opening of this new land at Disney's Hollywood Studios. We've got more on this new opening here.
2. LittleMissMatched at Disney Springs to close
It was announced this week that LittleMissMatched at Disney Springs will have its last day of operation on February 25 2018. No announcements about a potential replacement for this retailer have been made yet.
3. The American Adventure returns from refurbishment with some changes
Epcot's American Adventure attraction has reopened following its month long refurbishment, and guests who stop by this presentation will notice a few upgrades have been made. The most noticeable is the upgrade from film to digital for the projected elements of the show and the improved sound quality. In addition's show's finale sequence now has some new faces from America’s recent history, including the 2016 American gymnastics team,composer John Williams, singer Beyonce, and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.
