Ever since its official announcement back in 2015, fans have been skeptical of Disney’s plans to bring Toy Story Land to life at Disney's Hollywood Studios. However, Disney has faced skepticism in the past and exceeded expectations before (most recently with Pandora - The World of Avatar), so hopes are high that this new land will be a nice addition to the park, even if plans for this new area aren't as expansive as those for the neighboring Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge land.
It may seem hard to believe, but we're actually only a few months away from this new land welcoming its first guests. And while Disney has yet to announce an official opening date (simply saying that this land will be open for Summer 2018), there have been a number of developments regarding the construction of this new land you should definitely know about if you're planning a visit in the next few months, as opening might be sooner than you think!
Toy Story Midway Mania temporarily discontinues FastPass+ distribution this spring
Because of construction related to the opening of Toy Story Land, Toy Story Midway Mania has had limited capacity the past several weeks. And in an effort to deal with this limited capacity, WDWNT reports that FastPass reservations for this attraction will not be available from April 9th through May 7th 2018, with the standby line being the only option for guests who want to experience this attraction during this period.
Presumably, this is being done while the two "original" tracks are closed due to ongoing construction that is being done to create a new entrance for this attraction that faces the interior of Toy Story Land instead of the outside, as the current entrance does now. Presumably, when FastPass+ service resumes around May 8, 2018, construction on the new entrance will be complete. However, it is unknown if Disney will start using this new entrance immediately (perhaps bringing walls back a little if construction is still happening), or will still use the old entrance after this date until the new land is fully open. And speaking of opening dates...
Toy Story Land's two attractions have been loaded into My Disney Experience
Though we are definitely more than 60 days out from the opening of Toy Story Land, Disney has gone ahead and loaded "placeholder" attraction pages for Alien Swirling Saucers as well as Slinky Dog Dash inside My Disney Experience that will activate as soon as FastPass+ reservations become available for these two new attractions. In addition, a placeholder page has also appeared for the Woody's Lunch Box quick service stop (which will presumably accept mobile order). This is definitely a good sign, and hopefully means that Disney will be ready to announce an official opening day soon. And while we have no confirmation, things are lining up which suggest Disney could be circling a familiar date for the opening of this new land...
