Disney parks are constantly changing their refurbishment schedules, making it difficult for guests to keep up with the operating times and latest news regarding their favorite attractions, resorts, shops, and restaurants. Here are a few big, upcoming changes that are either confirmed by their respective parks or at the least very strongly rumored for the very near future.

This month's refurbishment update includes closing dates for popular attractions like Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean and The American Adventure.

1. Kali River Rapids (Disney's Animal Kingdom)

Status: Confirmed

Dates: now - February 9th 2018

Now that the holiday rush is over Kali River Rapids is closed for the rest of the winter while the ride is drained, the paint is touched up, and the vehicles are cleaned. Because of the routine nature of this refurbishment, we're not expecting any major alterations to the ride experience. Though this attraction's downtime is going to be for more than a month, it should be noted that this attraction will be closed during what should be the chilliest weeks of the year (at least in Florida), which means there probably isn't that much of a rush to reopen this attraction during this cold season.

2. Splash Mountain (Magic Kingdom)

Status: Confirmed

Dates: January 8 - February 1, 2018

Though it re-opened briefly for the holiday season, Splash Mountain will be closing once again from January 8th through February 1st, 2018 to complete work that was not finished during its fall refurbishment. It is unknown what changes still need to be made to this attraction during this second closure.

3. Liberty Square Riverboat (Magic Kingdom)

Status: Confirmed

Dates: January 8 - July 19 2018

In addition to Splash Mountain, January 8th will also see the closure of the Liberty Square Riverboat at the Magic Kingdom. Though the Liberty Square Riverboat closes every year for several weeks for regular maintenance, it has been confirmed that this attraction will be closed for more than six months in 2018 while major work is done on the riverboat's boiler. The attraction is tentatively scheduled to reopen on July 19th, but with such a long refurbishment time, that could be just an estimate.
