5 Changes Happening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Right Now (October 2017)

Big things are happening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios behind this park’s many, many construction walls. And while we can't wait to check out Toy Story Land in 2018 and Star Wars Land in 2019, some other changes are happening right now inside the park that visitors should know about. From the imminent opening of a new land to the addition of new Holiday entertainment in November, here's everything going on right now at Disney's Hollywood Studios:

1. Crait set to come to Star Tours next month

It's hard to believe but we only have a few weeks left to go until Star Wars: The Last Jedi is released in theaters. And just as they did in preparation for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Disney has announced that they will be adding a new section to Star Tours that allows guests to visit the planet Crait, which is located in a remote, uncharted section of the galaxy that once hosted a Rebel Alliance outpost during their early rebellion against the Galactic Empire (and figures largely into the plot of Star Wars: The Last Jedi).

Interestingly, Disney will be adding this new destination to Star Tours on November 17th, several weeks before the film opens. Much like when Jakku was added to Star Tours back in 2015, we’d expect Disney to “lock coordinates” on this new location for several months so all guests can experience this new location when it debuts later this year, before returning Star Tours once again to its random cycling again sometime in 2018.

2. Preperations now being made for Sunset Seasons Greetings

Earlier this year Disney's Hollywood Studios will be introducing a new projection show this holiday season: Sunset Seasons Greetings. This additional show will transform the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror into a festive icon that will feature Toy Story characters, Minnie and Minnie in a Norman Rockwell-inspired vignette, The Muppets as well as everyone’s favorite snowman Olaf! In an effort to prepare for the opening of this new show, Disney is installing holiday decorations in this part of the park a little early, which also cleverly hide projectors for this new show, which will begin running in just a few weeks on November 9th.
