Price hikes and upcharge events have become an unfortunate reality of the modern landscape of Walt Disney World, where attendance is uncertain but there is still a push from upper management to keep revenue high.
And while many of Disney's recent upcharge experiences have been well-received, over the past few months several new price hikes and "premium" experiences have been announced, including a new VR experience at Disney Springs, plus the return of two Magic Kingdom upcharges in the next few months.
1. Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire
Announced earlier this year, Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire will be a hyper-realistic attraction that will plunge guests directly into the world of Star Wars where they will be able move freely throughout an untethered, social, and multi-sensory experience in a way that allows them to interact and engage with friends, family and Star Wars characters.
This ground-breaking experience has now been confirmed to be opening on December 16th inside the VOID Experience Center, which will open inside Once Upon a Toy.
2.Magic Kingdom Ferrytale Fireworks
Back in 2015 Disney introduced a upcharge event that allowed guests to cruise on one of the Seven Seas Lagoon's Ferryboats and enjoy desserts and drinks with the night's fireworks spectacular. And now it looks like this event has returned for 2017.
Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparking Dessert Cruise will once again be available for guests beginning December 1 2017, and will set sail every Friday and Sunday through January 28 2018.The event begins 75 minutes prior to the start of Happily Ever After fireworks, and lasts for 90 minutes.
Reservations are now available and can be made online or by calling 407-WDW-DINE. Admission costs $99 for adults and $69 for kids aged 3-9, per person, including tax and gratuity. A 10% discount is available for Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Members.
