More Changes Are Coming to Disney Springs. Here's What You Need to Know (September 2017)

Disney Springs has become quite the subject of controversy for the past few years, with some outspoken fans saying this re-imagined shopping district has become too much like an outlet mall and isn’t really keeping with the “spirit” of the former Downtown Disney district any more. However, no matter how you feel about the changing face of this location, in the two years since this shopping district opened, Disney has been making a lot of changes, opening new stores, offering great deals, and even hosting some character-based events.

This month, two closures as well as a new opening hit the shopping district, plus Disney finalizes plans for holiday celebrations at Disney Springs, and there's a very interesting omission for 2017...

1. APEX by Sunglass Hut and Vince Camuto close their doors

Thus far this month, Disney Springs has seen two shop closures, the first being APEX by Sunglass Hut which closed forever on September 4, and was in The Landing area of Disney Springs between the West Side and Town Center areas of the shopping district. This storefront is being reimagined and will reopen later this year as Oakley, selling only this specific brand of sunglasses.

Next up is Vince Camuto, which was located next to the MAC cosmietics store in the Town Center area of Disney Springs and sold designer shoes, handbags, and accessories. This shop closed forever on September 15th, and no replacement for this store space has been announced yet.

2. Savannah Bee Co. now open in The Landing

It's not all closings however at Disney Springs, as beauty store Savannah Bee Company is now open in The Landing area of Disney Springs next to The Ganachery. The location sells all-natural honeybee-inspired body and beauty products, as well as a variety of delicious, artisanal honey.

3. No performances of Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba this week

Even though Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba is in its final months, it looks like guests haven't exactly been showing up in massive numbers to see this show one final time, as it has been confirmed that performances for the month of September have been reduced, with no performances scheduled for this week from September 17th through the 25th. However, for guests wanting to see this show at a later date, the box office will continue to remain open from 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM.
