Disney parks are constantly changing their refurbishment schedules, making it difficult for guests to keep up with the operating times and latest news regarding their favorite attractions, resorts, shops, and restaurants. Here are a few big, upcoming changes that are either confirmed by their respective parks or at the least very strongly rumored for the very near future.

This month's refurbishment update includes several refurbishments at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's resorts rounding out the end of 2017, plus a refurbishment that will likely be coming early next year to the Magic Kingdom!

1. Chef Mickey's (Disney's Contemporary Resort)

Status: Confirmed

Dates: Mid-November - December 2017

The refurbishment of Chef Mickey's which was originally planned to take place from July 28 through to August 13th has been rescheduled and will now take place from mid-November through the end of the year. During this refurbishment, the character dining buffet will relocate to the convention center at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

2. Cruz Ramirez meet and greet (Disney's Hollywood Studios)

Status: Confirmed

Dates: September 5-12

The Cruz Ramirez character meet and greet in Pixar Place at Disney's Hollywood Studios closed this week for a short refurbishment. This Cars 3 character meet and greet is expected to reopen to guests on September 12, and should remain available at least through the fall. Though this character experience was likely designed to be short term (like with other film-promoting character meet and greets), Disney might be considering keeping it around for a little longer, as the closure of The Great Movie Ride last month has left this park with a shortage of attractions, which may be incentive to keep what they do have open.

3. Echo Lake (Disney's Hollywood Studios)

Status: Confirmed

Dates: Now - October 2017

Also beginning this week at Disney's Hollywood Studios, the Echo Lake area of the park will go through a significant refurbishment period that should bring an updated look to this often-overlooked area of the park. During this time, the area's landscaping will be updated and the lake will be drained and repainted. In addition, Dinosaur Gertie’s Ice Cream of Extinction as well as Min and Bill’s Dockside Diner will also be repainted.

Though this sounds like a lot of work, everything in this area will remain open and operational during this refurbishment period, and all of these cosmetic upgrades are expected to be completed by the end of October, just in time for the holiday season to kick off at this park!
