Price hikes and upcharge events have become an unfortunate reality of the modern landscape of Walt Disney World, where attendance is uncertain but there is still a push from upper management to keep revenue high.

And while many of Disney's recent upcharge experiences have been well-received, over the past few months several new price hikes and "premium" experiences have been announced, including an insanely pricey new experience at Disney's Animal Kingdom, and a more modest Halloween upcharge at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.

1. Ultimate Nights of Adventure VIP Tour at Disney's Animal Kingdom

If you want to experience the best of Disney's Animal Kingdom, but don't want to fight through the crowds at the park, Disney has announced a new VIP tour that will be offered Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays this fall beginning October 1st.

Costing a whopping $265.19 per person (not including park admission), this four-hour tour includes no-wait access to several of this park's attractions including Avatar Flight of Passage, Na’vi River Journey, Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, DINOSAUR, and Kilimanjaro Safaris. In addition, guests who book this tour will enjoy reserved seating for the evening's Rivers of Light performance. A meal at Satu’li Canteen is included as well that includes a sampler platter, beverage (adult or non-alcoholic available) and popcorn.

Unspecified discounts are available for for Disney Vacation Club Members, Annual Passholders and Visa card holders, but even with the price knocked down just a little bit, this is one of the more expensive tours we've seen, especially considering it is only 4 hours long.

2. Return to Sleepy Hollow at Fort Wilderness Resort

Announced earlier this year, bookings are now available for a spooky new event at the Fort Wilderness Resort that revolves around the 1937 animated film The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The event starts off with a screening of this movie at the Tri-Circle D Ranch and is then followed by a meet and greet with the Headless Horseman himself! Guests who attend this event will also be able to take home an exclusive limited edition pin.

This event will be available twice nightly at 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM on September 29th – 30th, Thursdays and Sundays in October, and on October 30th and 31st. The cost to attend will be $22 for general admission or $38 for “premium” admission, which includes seats in the first five rows, priority access to the Headless Horseman meet and greet, and a special Sleepy Hollow treat bag.

Reservations for the Return to Sleepy Hollow event are now available and you do not need to be a guest of the Fort Wilderness Resort to make a reservation for this special Halloween event.
