A lot of changes have recently been confirmed for Epcot. From the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride coming in the next few years to Future World to the new restaurant next to Mission: Space and even the Ratatouille attraction coming to the France Pavilion, it looks like this park is getting ready to totally reinvent itself in the coming years.

However, even though all these developments already sound like quite a lot, during the recent D23 Expo earlier this year it was said that these are “just the tip of the iceberg” when it comes to changes for this park. So what are some of the changes that could be announced in the coming months and years for this park? Once again, it looks like most of the changes will be in Future World..

1. Could the long-awaited Journey Into Imagination refurbishment be happening soon?

It’s no secret that Journey Into Imagination has not aged well, and rumors about a refurbishment for this attraction have been swirling since at least 2014. However, for whatever reason these rumors never quite made it to reality, and insiders have said that various budgetary issues are to blame for this in-development project never getting off the ground. However, a number of recent events seem to imply that Disney may finally be ready to give this attraction some attention.

First up, Disney recently sent out a very interestingly-worded survey gaging guests’ feelings about the character of Figment, suggesting that this character’s role inside a future version of this attraction could be modified substantially.

Then, just a few days ago, a very interesting casting notice was posted on the Disney auditions website calling for actors and actresses who could portray wide-eyed and naïve “scientific interns” in a laboratory environment that supports various interactive audience experiences. And though no location was provided in the casting notice, we can’t help but feel like this notice is referring to Journey Into Imagination and Disney is using some character additions to set the stage for a massive re-imagining of this attraction, potentially a year or two down the line.

Disney has been riding the milk truck way to long(not updating anything but price increase). Epcot is way past due. In the last 10 years they did 2 updates, not saying much. World Showcase is the only thing keeping it floating. I have been going to Disney for the last 30 yrs and it was mind blowing back then, today tepid. But Disney is making money and that's what they care about.
