5 New Price Hikes and Upcharges Coming to Walt Disney World

Price hikes and upcharge events have become an unfortunate reality of the modern landscape of Walt Disney World, where attendance is uncertain but there is still a push from upper management to keep revenue high.

And while many of Disney's recent upcharge experiences have been well-received, over the past few months several new price hikes and "premium" experiences have been announced, including a new lower-cost premium package that includes guaranteed seating for one of Walt Disney World's most popular shows...

1. Fantasmic! Dessert & VIP Viewing Experience

Beginning September 8 2017, guests visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios will have an additional option for reserved seating at Fantasmic! with the new Fantasmic! Dessert & VIP Viewing Experience upcharge experience. Costing  $39 per adult and $19 per child (ages 3 to 9), guests who purchase this add on will not only be able to enjoy reserved seating, but will also recieve a number of trats to enjoy during the show, including chocolate-dipped strawberries, cheese and crackers and make-your-own “worms and dirt” pudding. Each guest also receives a light-up cup with a specialty drink (alcoholic optional for Guests 21 and older), along with a bottle of water.

2. Frozen Ever After Sparkling Dessert Party

Epcot is now offering a new upcharge experience that will provide guests with dessert, reserved viewing for IllumiNations, and immediate access to the Frozen Ever After attraction with no wait. As you might expect, this new event is very similar to the IllumiNations Sparkling Dessert Party (which was discontinued back in July) , but the difference with this new event is that after the night's fireworks and desserts have concluded, guests will be able to stay in the park after closing to enjoy an immediate ride on Frozen Ever After with no wait at all.

The event will be offered on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays through the fall and costs $79 per adult and $47 per child. This is quite a lot more expensive than the former IllumiNations dessert party, which was $49 for adults and $29 for children, making the addition of the Frozen Ever After Sparkling Dessert Party both a "new" upcharge experience for this park as well as a price hike!
