Though attendance this summer at Walt Disney World on the whole has been a bit on the lackluster side when compared with previous years, 2017 hasn't exactly been a total bust either, with guests showing up in droves at Disney's Animal Kingdom specifically to experience Pandora - The World of Avatar. However, even though things have been fairly average this summer, Disney has gone ahead and introduced a number of cuts and schedule modifications, some of which will be taking effect immediately, and others which will kick in later this year. But first, let's look at a cut that actually kicked in a few days ago with almost no warning...
1. Jawas removed from the Star Wars Launch Bay at Disney's Hollywood Studios
One of the more unique things for guests to do at the Star Wars Launch bay was to interact with the Jawas, mischevious characters who often roam around this attraction, trading small items with guests and stopping to take pictures. However, it looks like these wandering characters have been completely removed from this attraction, as it was confirmed this week that their last day inside the Star Wars Launch Bay was July 29, 2017. The specific reason why these characters were removed from this attraction is currently unknown, but hopefully we haven't seen the last of these unique characters at Walt Disney World!
2. Fantasmic dining package gets downsized in 2018
Much like other dining packages offered at Walt Disney World, the Fantasmic! Dining package at Disney's Hollywood Studios allows guests to not only enjoy guaranteed seating for this park's nightly spectacular, but also visit a table service restaurant and order an appetizer, main course as well as a dessert. However, it looks like this will be changing in the very near future as it has been confirmed via Disney's website that as of January 1st, this package will no longer include an appetizer. In addition, the following price changes were announced for the two table service restaurants that offer this package:
- Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano – Prices at this location for this package will go down from $45 per adult to $42 next year. Children’s prices are staying the same.
- Hollywood Brown Derby – Prices for this package are also going down next year from $65 per adult to $62 next year. Children's prices will be holding steady at $22 for each child 3-9.
